At the Basilica Palladiana, from 22 December to 7 May 2023, a precious retrospective on Mesopotamian civilization will be staged, with a particular focus on the aspects that contributed to creating its collective imagination.

The creators of eternal Egypt. Scribes, artisan and laborers at the service of the pharaoh is a treasure chest of 200 precious artifacts dating back to the Egypt of the powerful pharaohs, with objects from the Museo Egizio in Turin and from the Louvre Museum in Paris. A real treasure to be explored without haste. Handcrafted artifacts, everyday tools, pottery are combined with colossal statues, decorated sarcophagi, bas-reliefs and painted steles, in the continuous cross-reference between the two reigns: life and death.

The common thread along the entire museum itinerary is the community of Deir el-Medina, a village nestled among the rocky hills not far from the royal necropolis, on the opposite bank of the Nile from Thebes. Here lived the laborers and their families involved in the construction and preparation of the pharaonic tombs. They are the real creators of the emblematic imagery of ancient Egypt with their funerary works. This exhibition, for the first time, shifts the perspective from the pharaohs to the small, great men who made them immortal. The exhibition is open every day, except Mondays, from 10 am to 6 pm.
