4 Star Hotel in Vicenza

Tour of the Piccole Dolomiti: Recoaro Terme and Recoaro Mille

L'Hotel Viest enjoys a privileged, strategic location just off the Vicenza Est motorway exit, the ideal starting point for exploring the wonders of the Vicenza area. After a day of discovery, there is nothing more enjoyable than returning to the hotel and indulging in our exclusive services: the intimate wellness centre, the refined cuisine of our restaurant, and the welcoming comfort of your room. But before immersing yourself in relaxation, treat yourself to a day trip – perhaps an adventure among the peaks of the Piccole Dolomiti. Less than an hour from Hotel Viest, the Val Leogra conceals a mountain treasure that is often overlooked: the Piccole Dolomiti.
These limestone peaks, rising to 2,000 metres in altitude, offer breathtaking views far from the crowds of their more famous Dolomite sisters. Recoaro Terme and Recoaro Mille are the two jewels of this valley, each with its own character and hidden treasures waiting to be discovered.

Recoaro Terme: Belle Époque charm

Recoaro Terme is a spa town that has preserved the charm of the Belle Époque. Strolling through the historic centre, you will come across elegant Art Nouveau villas, manicured parks and the refined atmosphere of a town that, in the nineteenth century, was an exclusive destination for European aristocracy.
Recoaro’s thermal waters have been renowned since the sixteenth century for their healing properties. Even today, you can visit the historic springs (Lora, Lelia, Amara), set within a centuries-old park where time seems to stand still. However, the thermal baths are currently undergoing refurbishment.
Yet Recoaro Terme is not only synonymous with thermal wellbeing. It is also an excellent starting point for excursions in the Lessinia Regional Natural Park and the Piccole Dolomiti. Trails of varying difficulty wind through beech and fir forests, leading to intimate mountain huts where you can sample alpine cheeses and admire sweeping views that stretch from the Venetian plain to the Alpine peaks.
The Sanctuary of the Madonna di Lourdes, reachable via a short walk, offers a privileged view over the valley. On clear days, your gaze extends across a seemingly endless horizon – a truly moving experience.

Recoaro Mille: authentic mountain life

Climbing higher, at around 1,000 metres above sea level, the world of Recoaro Mille unfolds. This mountain hamlet is a haven for hikers, mountain bike enthusiasts and anyone seeking genuine contact with nature.
In summer, the green meadows are scattered with wildflowers and the trails lead to alpine refuges where you can pause for a hearty, flavourful lunch. Rifugio Campogrosso and Rifugio Cesare Battisti are must-visit stops if you are following CAI routes: here, alongside well-earned refreshment, you will enjoy unforgettable views of the rocky spires of the Piccole Dolomiti.
The most iconic peaks – Carega (2,259 m), the highest summit, Pasubio with its Great War trenches, and the Sengio Alto range – shape a rugged and captivating skyline. If you are experienced, we recommend the via ferrata routes, while gentler paths are perfect for family walks.
In winter, Recoaro Mille transforms into a small paradise for downhill and cross-country skiing. The slopes are less crowded than the major resorts, yet no less picturesque. And when snow blankets the fir woods, snowshoe walks under the moonlight become an experience to remember. .

Explore the Piccole Dolomiti and fall in love with this land where the mountains feel more intimate and accessible. Upon your return to Hotel Viest, comfortable rooms, the warmth of our staff and the excellent services of our 4-star hotel await you. Book your stay and prepare for unforgettable discoveries among historic thermal springs, panoramic peaks and unspoilt nature.
